South Australian Skills Clusters

GREAT NEWS FOR SOUTH AUSTRALIAN PUBLIC SCHOOLS!

In 2021 the minister for education announced that the funding for certain qualifications being delivered in public schools across South Australia was to be cut commencing 2022. This led to special skills clusters being developed to enable the continuation of some of the units of competencies to continue to be funded and delivered.

We proudly took part in a very long consultation process to advocate for dance to continue as a matter of importance, and we were successful in getting 2 skills clusters across the line!!

What this means for SA public schools is that they can now deliver, have us deliver, or work with us on a blended delivery approach to enable all dance students access to these important dance skills clusters.

What are the skills clusters? Junior dance teacher & Advanced dance

Junior dance teacher - specifically designed for students who wish to assist their teachers or become teachers in the future.

This skills cluster is made up of 6 months of study ( up to140 nominal hours)and equates to one subject of study.

The units in the skills cluster are:

BSBTWK201 Work effectively with others

CUAIND314 Plan a career in the creative arts industry

CUACHR311 Develop basic dance composition skills

Advanced dance - specifically for the aspiring dancer, or focused dancer.

This skills cluster is made up of 6 months of study (up to140 nominal hours)and equates to one subject of study.
